The river Avon (Warwickshire), also referred to as the "Upper Avon", "Shakespeare's Avon" and the "Stratford Avon", rises near the Northamptonshire village of Naseby in England.
The river offers some great course fishing, with species including barbel, bream, carp, chub, roach and tench.

The Path of the River Avon (Warwickshire)
The Warwickshire Avon flows from its source past the village of Welford, Northampton onto the Stanford Reservoir. As the river flows southwest from the reservoir it passes the idylic village of Stanford-on-Avon and winds its way between the villages of Catthorpe and Lilbourne.
The river heads west passing between Newton and Clifton-upon-Dunsmore on its way to Rugby. It passes north of Rugby and flows through the village of Newbold-on-Avon.
As it continues west it flows near the villages of Long Lawford, Little Lawford, Church Lawford and King's Newham. It passes close to Bretford village and meanders its way between Brandon and Wolston, passing north of Ryton-on-Dunsmore.
The River Avon (Warwickshire) then heads southwest where it is joined by its tributary the River Sowe near the village of Stoneleigh, about 3 miles south of Coventry.
The path of the river then takes a more southerly direction, where it passes the southern tip of Ashow village and on between the villages of Hill Wootton and Blackdown.
The river heads west passing between Newton and Clifton-upon-Dunsmore on its way to Rugby. It passes north of Rugby and flows through the village of Newbold-on-Avon.

It then heads southwest and into the beautiful town of Stratford-upon-Avon. The river leaves Stratford-upon-Avon meeting its tributary the Rive Stour and flows southwest past the villages of Luddington, Weston-on-Avon and Welford-on-Avon.
